Billionaire Bill Ackman Urges Biden to Step Aside in Light of Age Concerns
Billionaire businessman Bill Ackman has publicly called for President Joe Biden to drop out of the race due to concerns about his age and perceived weakness on the global stage. Ackman made these remarks during an interview on CNBC’s “Squawkbox” while discussing his recent involvement in the aftermath of Harvard University’s antisemitism scandal.
Known for his centrism and advocacy for the best interests of the country, Ackman expressed his belief that President Biden should step aside, citing concerns about his age and effectiveness. “Just on the age, past his prime issue, I think a good part of the reason why we have what’s going on in the world geopolitically is he’s perceived as a weak president. And he will be even weaker,” Ackman stated.
When questioned about his potential support for former President Trump in the 2024 election, Ackman kept his options open, stating, “I’ll make that decision when I have the choice.”
Ackman’s foray into the political discourse gained momentum after Harvard University faced scrutiny over the congressional testimony of its president, Claudine Gay. Ackman, a prominent Harvard alumnus and major donor to the institution, expressed his concerns following Gay’s hesitation to condemn calls for genocide against Jewish people during her testimony.
Claudine Gay later resigned from her position after instances of plagiarism in her scholarship were exposed. Ackman, who received both his bachelor’s degree and MBA from Harvard, has been an influential figure in demanding accountability from the university.
In a detailed social media post, Ackman revealed that his concerns about Harvard deepened after 34 student organizations signed a statement blaming the “Israeli regime” for violence following Hamas attacks on Israel. Ackman asserted that, after conducting his own research, he concluded that antisemitism was a warning sign rather than the core problem at Harvard.
According to Ackman, Harvard’s diversity, equity, and inclusion policies are at the heart of the institution’s issues. His public call for President Biden to step aside adds a new dimension to Ackman’s political activities, sparking further discussions about the upcoming presidential election and the challenges faced by academic institutions in the current socio-political climate.
