Starlink Helps North Carolina Reconnect After Hurricane Helene’s Blackout

In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s destruction, North Carolina’s mountain communities are finding ways to reconnect despite widespread flooding and power outages. Asheville, one of the hardest-hit areas, is seeing a blend of innovation and urgency as makeshift solutions restore communication.

According to a report by CBS 17, people in shelters have been setting up Starlink satellite dishes to get back online, enabling crucial contact with the outside world. Meanwhile, temporary cell towers, including “Satellite Cells on Light Trucks,” have been deployed to bring cellular service back to cut-off regions. These stop-gap measures are becoming vital lifelines for areas plunged into blackout zones, offering a sliver of hope amid the devastation.

With traditional infrastructure crippled, these temporary connections are ensuring that isolated communities can stay informed and reach emergency services as recovery efforts continue.
