Boeing Withdraws Contract Offer as Machinist Strike Drags On

Boeing has officially pulled its contract offer for 33,000 striking machinists, signaling a breakdown in negotiations that have been ongoing since mid-September. According to Boeing, continuing talks makes no sense, leaving the workers, who walked off on September 13, with no deal in sight.

The strike has brought production to a halt in Boeing’s Puget Sound facilities, where most of its aircraft are built. Though Boeing sweetened its initial offer by upping benefits, the union rejected the proposal, insisting it wasn’t properly negotiated.

The ongoing standoff marks a critical juncture for both parties, as Boeing’s halted production disrupts its operations, while machinists hold their ground for better terms. The company’s withdrawal raises the stakes in a conflict that shows no signs of resolution anytime soon.
