Millions Without Power in Florida

Hurricane Milton’s overnight rampage across Florida has left over three million residents without power, as officials urge patience amid widespread outages. Hillsborough County, particularly hard-hit, saw massive disruptions, with Tampa Electric (TECO) reporting that nearly 600,000 of its 850,000 customers remain in the dark.

TECO officials outlined the immense challenges crews face in restoring power, citing downed trees, flooding, and damaged infrastructure as key obstacles. The utility’s CEO emphasized that crews are working around the clock to bring the grid back online but warned that full recovery could take days.

With sweltering post-hurricane heat adding urgency to the situation, residents are anxiously awaiting updates as the state grapples with one of the largest blackout events in recent memory. While the road to recovery looks long, the collective efforts of first responders and utility workers are already in full swing.
