Tucker Carlson Claims US Government Hindered His Attempt to Interview Putin

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has made startling allegations regarding his efforts to secure an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In an interview with Swiss publication Die Weltwoche published on Thursday, Carlson asserted that unnamed figures in Washington obstructed his plans to interview the Russian leader. The controversial media personality also expressed his disappointment with the lack of support he received from US news media during this ordeal.

“I tried to interview Vladimir Putin, and the US government stopped me,” Carlson claimed during the interview. He further elaborated, saying, “I don’t think there was anybody who said, ‘Wait a second. I may not like this guy, but he has a right to interview anyone he wants, and we have a right to hear what Putin says.’ You’re not allowed to hear Putin’s voice. Because why? There was no vote on it. No one asked me.”

While Carlson did not provide specific details about the circumstances surrounding the alleged government interference in his interview plans or when the interview was supposed to take place, he appeared to suggest that it was the current Biden administration behind the meddling.

“I’m an American citizen,” Carlson asserted to Die Weltwoche. “I’m a much more loyal American than, say, Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, who didn’t even grow up in this country; she grew up in Canada. And they’re telling me what it is to be a loyal American?”

Tucker Carlson’s departure from Fox News in April came shortly after the news network settled a lawsuit with voting-machine company Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million. Fox News had been a platform where discussions of claims regarding Dominion’s machines being involved in the alleged ‘rigging’ of the 2020 US presidential election were frequently featured. Carlson’s show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” which often touched on issues such as gender, race, sexuality, and ‘woke’ ideology, was specifically referenced in the Dominion lawsuit.

Since leaving Fox News, Carlson has been broadcasting abbreviated versions of his news show on X (formerly Twitter), consistently garnering tens of millions of views.

In a related development, Russia’s TV news channel, Rossiya 24, has aired a teaser trailer for a weekend show purportedly hosted by Tucker Carlson. The promotional material, first broadcast earlier this month and again on September 22, states, “at the weekend.” It also mentions that the “high-profile American presenter is moving to another level. Here.” However, Rossiya 24 did not specify when the show would debut or whether it would feature original content or translated versions of Carlson’s X broadcasts.

The claims made by Tucker Carlson regarding the alleged government interference in his attempts to interview Vladimir Putin have sparked discussions and curiosity surrounding the circumstances and motivations behind this supposed obstruction. As this story unfolds, it remains to be seen if more information will come to light regarding the events in question and the possible implications for US-Russia relations.
