Europe’s Green EV Dream Hits a Bumpy Road

The road to full EV supremacy for Europe’s car giants is proving far rockier than anticipated. With affordable electric models scarce, a sluggish rollout of charging stations across the nations, and looming tariffs on Chinese-made EVs, the dream of a swift switch to electric cars is stalling.

Volvo Cars has already dialed back its ambitious goal of selling only EVs by the year 2030, which leaves other manufacturers on the brink of breaking their green promises to consumers, whether or not that is a good thing remains to be scene but it will definitely be an interesting shift in the next few years that might end up leaving room for some mild hybrids.

Volkswagen, Ford, and Mercedes-Benz are also reconsidering their timelines for phasing out internal combustion engines. As Europe grapples with these challenges, the path to a fully electric future appears less like a highway and more like a winding, uncertain road.
