Half of Gen Z Wish Social Media Didn’t Exist, Despite Hours of Daily Use

A new survey reveals that almost half of Gen Z wishes TikTok (47%) and X (formerly Twitter, 50%) didn’t exist. This disillusionment comes even as many young adults spend several hours a day using social media platforms like TikTok and X.

The survey paints a complex picture of Gen Z’s relationship with social media. While platforms like TikTok and X dominate their daily routines, the majority of those surveyed who fall between the ages of eighteen and twenty seven expressed concerns about how these platforms impact their lives.

The findings underscore the growing tension between social media’s addictive allure and its psychological toll. As Gen Z navigates this digital landscape, it seems many are yearning for a world with fewer distractions, even if they can’t quite quit the apps just yet.
