Study Ranks Best and Worst U.S. Cities for Labor Market Strength

A recent study by ADP looked into which U.S. cities have the healthiest job markets based on different factors like yearly salary increases, how much new employees get paid, and the rate at which new people are hired. The report analyzed 55 metropolitan areas with a population exceeding a million residents.

Topping the list of the strongest cities for work were Las Vegas, Portland, Oklahoma City, and Denver. These places boasted impressive pay growth and strong hiring activity, making them prime destinations for those looking for a new job.

On the other hand, cities like Tampa, Salt Lake City, Cleveland, Rhode Island, and Providence had a very low score reflecting weaker rate of employment and salaries.

ADP’s findings offer a revealing look at which metros are thriving economically and which are lagging behind, further shaping the national conversation around job opportunities and wage stagnation across the country.
